The program of this tour is as following:

  • 09:00 am - Hassle-free hotel pickup or any other location pickup depending on the request of the guest;

We will pick you up from your hotel/hostel on time. Then, we will head out to the Mud Volcano which is located near the Gobustan Museum.  Azerbaijan's mud volcanoes definitely should be part of any tourist's itinerary. So many of them are within close proximity to Baku, especially, those at Alyat, Gobustan and other locations. Optionally, you can jump into a volcano and swim. The mud volcanos are beneficial for your skin! After exploring mud volcanoes, we will continue our tour to Gobustan National Museum. Gobustan was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011, considered to be of "outstanding universal value" for the quality and density of its rock art engravings, for the substantial evidence the collection of rock art images presents for hunting, fauna, flora, and lifestyles in pre-historic times. During the second part of the tour, we will visit a museum where we will get initial information about Gobustan Rock Arts and later on, the tour will continue in an open air museum. In this part of the museum as a visitor, you will have a great opportunity to take an even closer look at ancient rocks. Your tour guide will make your visit even more remarkable by telling interesting stories about the rocks and place itself.

Gobustan National Park is a State Reserve which is located in the west of the settlement of Gobustan, about 40 miles southwest of the centre of Baku and was established in 1966 when the region was declared as a national historical landmark of Azerbaijan in an attempt to preserve the ancient carvings, mud volcanoes and gas-stones in the region.

The stone is called Gaval Dash, the sound can be compared with a tambourine. The Gaval Dash have been formed due the combination of unqiue climate, oil and gas which can be found in the region of Azerbaijan.

In the past, the palace was surrounded by a wall with towers and, thus, served as the inner stronghold of the Baku fortress. Despite the fact that at the present time no traces of this wall have survived on the surface, as early as the 1920s, the remains of apparently the foundations of the tower and the part of the wall connected with it could be distinguished in the north-eastern side of the palace.
