Azerbaijani wine is produced in several regions throughout Azerbaijan. Prior to 20th century communist rule, Azerbaijan had a thriving wine industry that dated back to the second millennium BC. Azerbaijan, considered to be one of the birthplaces of the vine, is very rich in grape varieties, not only for the production of table or technical grapes, but also wild ones. According to a study, more than 600 local and introduced grape varieties can be found in Azerbaijan today.
In recent years, so-called gastronomic and wine tourism has become increasingly popular.
This tour is an ideal alternative for lovers of traditional culinary art, connoisseurs of wine and cuisine, as well as for everyone who wants to try something new.

We will visit a winery in Novkhani village.
A trip to the winery in the outskirts of Baku offers a unique opportunity for everyone to get acquainted to winery craft, learn the culture, technology and the ancient traditions of the production of the famous Azerbaijani wines and observe the production process.
During the break, guests will be able to taste the different varieties of Azerbaijani wines and cheeses.

These ripe, abundant grapes are then collected and handled with care and love before being transformed by the apparent magic of a master into wine. This is what happens every year in the Savalan valley.

Now, on the slopes of the Greater Caucasus ridge and in unique climatic conditions there exists 350 hectare vineyards where 22 wine grape varieties and 12 table grape varieties are growing including, but not limited to Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Alicante Bouchet, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Riesling, Moscato White, Aleatico, Traminer and Verdejo. Most are the yield of seedlings from leading companies like Italy’s Vivai Cooperativi Rauscedo (VCR) and France’s Gontard Freres. The vines grows 400 meters above sea level, surrounded by the river, where the average temperature, the amount of precipitation and daily and annual ratio of sunshine hours consummately combine integrate with each other and create the most favorable conditions for growing grapes.

You'll also learn about the wine making history of Azerbaijan from prehistoric times through Soviet Union to the present time.

The tour guide/driver will meet with you at
Sahil metro station exit, from where we’ll proceed to European style vineyards outside of Baku. After being welcomed in the winery, you will take a visit to vine fields for a descriptive and explanatory tour. The tour will cover production process of red and white wines, while also giving a chance to taste those unique wines. Later, we will take a visit to the winery, cellar and fermentation rooms.
After finishing with the tour, we will head to the tasting hall to have a seat at the wine table prepared for you with all of the sample wines that Firelands Vineyards produces. To make the experience more enjoyable, you will also be provided with all kinds of wine snacks with basil pesto and sun-dried tomatoes, dried fruits, cheese plate, nuts, raisins, pistachio nuts, pita bread, fresh and organic cucumbers, tomatoes. After spending time with hospitable staff around the wine table you will have an opportunity to purchase wines for factory prices! Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Ganjlik Mall, Baku, Absheron Region

We will go to cozy apartment in the suburban area of Baku. Please be ready to climb up to the 7th floor by walk, as there is no elevator in the building. Before the tour starts we will go to grocery shopping and then head out to chef Leman's house. Before we get to cooking, we will prepare the dough for the dessert, let it rest in the fridge and START cooking! Depending on your preferences, we will have two menu options - either meat or vegetarian dolma as an entrée meal. Then we will start preparing salads and “kompot” drink. After we take dough out of the fridge, we will start baking it. While it’s baking, we will start our dinner.

- During our cooking class at chef's apartment, guests will be introduced to a new kind of cuisine.
- Guests will be introduced to two different kinds of menu: either traditional dolma with beetroot salad or vegan style bell pepper dolma and beetroot salad. Choices will be up to the guests and local fruit drink called “kompot” will be served in both options.
- After the main course we will sit for tea table for delights and “kete-mutaki” (Azerbaijani dessert).
- Participating on this tour, you will have opportunity to acquaint yourself with secrets of local cuisine and culture from first-hand with our chef Leman.
